Retriever Merchant Solutions (RMS) works from its base in Munster, Indiana, about 30 minutes’ drive from Chicago, to offer innovative 21st-century solutions to the full range of merchant payment processing needs. Retriever Merchant Solutions is additionally involved in its own community as a supporter of programs designed to lift people out of cycles of poverty and addiction.
One of these is Restoration Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization that offers the Harvey House School of Ministry for men and Tabitha House for women as residential shelters focused on providing Christian training for people who have overcome addictions to alcohol and drugs.
Among Restoration Ministries’ other projects, it offers both hope and practical help – including food and other daily necessities – to vulnerable people. The nonprofit was one among several local organizations that benefited from the Chicago area’s annual April Food Day food-collection drive in spring 2018. April Food Day has for six years served to address the current crisis of food insecurity, in which people in under-resourced urban communities lack regular access to healthy food.
Restoration Ministries’ Client Choice food pantry was one of eight that received supplies from the food drive. The pantry, in operation since 2000, offers families in need the dignity of selecting the food items they prefer from among the variety of grocery products in stock. The pantry continues to provide assistance to as many as 120 families every week.
